About the Company The client is an established Melbourne-based accounting and financial advisory firm dedicated to delivering tailored accounting, tax, and business services. Role Overview The Full-Time Tax Accountant will manage a variety of Australian tax compliance and reporting tasks for our client base. Training for specific return completions will be provided, alongside company-supplied hardware (laptop and headset). Responsibilities Companies & Trusts Financials and Tax Compliance Prepare and complete year-end financial statements, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets for corporate entities and trust structures. Draft and file Company Income Tax Returns (CTR) and Trust Income Tax Returns in compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations. Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank transactions, inter-company balances, and year-end adjustments. Individual Tax Returns Prepare and complete Individual Tax Returns (ITR) covering varied income streams (e.g., salary/wages, investment properties, capital gains, dividends, and interest). Identify and apply allowable tax deductions and work-related expenses to maximize tax accuracy and client outcomes. Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) Compliance Prepare annual financial reports, operating statements, and member statements for Self-Managed Super Funds. Draft and complete SMSF Annual Returns (SAR) ensuring alignment with ATO superannuation rules. Compile, organize, and summarize support documentation required for external SMSF audit processing. Client Engagement & Communication Engage directly with Australian clients via phone and email using strong, clear English communication. Query clients directly to request missing documentation, clarify transaction details, and resolve account discrepancies. Provide clear updates on return progress and answer routine compliance and accounting inquiries professionally. Requirements Qualifications Experience: Australian accounting and tax experience is a MUST. Communication: Good English communication skills (a must for phone client interaction). Software & Technical Skills: Xero experience ( Must ) Microsoft Excel proficiency ( Must ) Experience with MYOB and QuickBooks ( Preferred ) Experience with BGL 360 ( Preferred ) Home Setup: Reliable high-speed internet connection for full-time operation during Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) business hours.
