We are guided by the following set of values and behaviors–optimism, integrity, excellence, inclusion, co-creation and boldness–and look forward to hearing about how your past experiences align with them   Manager, Structural Engineering  The VNI (Venue Infrastructure) team plays a critical role in delivering competition and non-competition venues that are functional, innovative, and fully accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Games Planning & Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed and developed with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion.  The VNI Engineering team is responsible for the coordination, planning, design, and construction oversight of all Olympic and Paralympic venues. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Structural Engineering this role will oversee the associated engineering works for the Olympic and Paralympic venues, including management of external engineering resources and internal engineering teams, ensuring each venue meets long-term community, compliance, and long-term use objectives. This role will require extensive knowledge of the development of technical plans and designs of structural engineering improvements and modifications. To support venue development efforts, this role is required to coordinate with multiple internal functional areas to ensure feedback is captured and designs meet industry codes and standards, IOC requirements, and cost and schedule targets.  The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing capital works, leading multidisciplinary consultant teams, and working in complex stakeholder environments. A background in construction or infrastructure project management is essential.   Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership Lead structural engineering technical design and development, including internal and external engineers and consultants  Oversee the relevant aspects of technical development of both temporary infrastructure and renovation projects Analyze existing infrastructure and determine supplemental structural infrastructure improvements required    Collaborate with architects and other engineers to integrate structural designs and requirements into the overall venue design   Develop technical engineering design guides and principles and adapt IOC requirements to local practices  Prepare and oversee the structural portion of the venue design books and other technical publications. Advance engineering designs through increasing levels of detail from concept through construction drawings  Manage and develop review process for plans to meet departmental milestones  Oversee an installation team during operations and maintenance during the event period  Ensure compliance within workstream to Health & Safety regulations  Cross-functional Collaboration Close collaboration with Energy, Technology, Villages and other infrastructure functional areas to integrate structural requirements  Coordinate internal and external stakeholders’ requirements to develop cost effective and streamlined engineering solutions to meet their games time requirements for each venue  Support the development of integrated workplans and schedules with the infrastructure master schedule, event operations planning, and central program management   Partner with Finance and Procurement teams to prepare costs, elevate delivery and procurement risks, and identify savings opportunities Support other cross-functional initiatives, including Permitting, Risk Management, and Event Operations  Background & Qualifications: 5 years of experience with structural engineering infrastructure design and construction   Accredited bachelor’s degree in structural engineering Experience leading diverse teams delivering complex, high-profile infrastructure projects  Ability to manage external consultants to meet project goals  Advanced knowledge of engineering tools and software (Revit, AutoCAD, etc.) Detail-oriented with excellent command of productivity and collaboration tools (Office360, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Autodesk Cloud, etc.)  Experience with key industry codes, standards, and practices Knowledge of key structural engineering activities, including preparation, installation, and maintenance  Knowledge of fundamental project management concepts (e.g., scope, schedule, budget) Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making   Education: Required – Accredited bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering Desired – Professional Engineering license Desired – Project Management and Construction certifications Expectations: Detail oriented with excellent command of productivity and collaboration tools (Office360, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Autodesk Construction Cloud etc.) Present information concisely to wide audience of internal stakeholders, external contractors and advisors, and governmental agencies Ability to manage external consultants to meet project goals Ability to work within a complex and demanding environment with many stakeholders while maintaining strong relationships   Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.  The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.  Site visits requiring movement around varying environmental conditions in external locations   The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000 - $140,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role.
