WHO WE ARE We are changing how EMS navigates care. RightSite partners with 911/EMS on-site to connect non-emergency patients with a telehealth Emergency Medicine Care Team and navigate them to the right site of care. Patients instantly access a clinician and a Patient Navigator who provide a trusted, genuine human connection in a time of need. EMS becomes more available for critical emergencies, while we deliver higher-quality care at a lower cost and with a better experience for everyone. Our Care Team is deliberately interdisciplinary: board-certified Emergency Medicine physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, and non-clinical Navigators working the same call, in real time, from wherever they are. WHO YOU ARE As a Telehealth Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you deliver virtual care to patients who have entered the 911/EMS system and do not need an ambulance or an emergency department. You decide what the patient needs and where they should get it. Your emergency department experience is key. Managing risk without a CT scanner, a lab, or a monitor requires a clinician who has seen enough undifferentiated patients in person to recognize the subtle ones over video. We hire APPs who address risk judiciously, value clinical judgment and patient education over reflexive testing, and don’t hesitate to say, "I need the physician on this call." You will work collaboratively with Navigators, nurses, and EM physicians, all helping the same patient at the same time. Availability, approachability, and humility matter here more than they did in the ED. A DAY IN THE LIFE Virtual Urgent Care and Secondary Triage Provide virtual care via the RightSite platform to patients who sought emergency services through 911/EMS Act as a triage clinician in the virtual setting, directing patients to alternate destinations or treating via telehealth when clinically appropriate Perform focused assessments using patient-reported symptoms, EMS field findings, and video observation Identify red flags requiring immediate 911 response, ED evaluation, or physician involvement Perform patient consults to answer questions and ensure the care plan is followed. Prescribe medications and coordinate with pharmacies as needed. Key skill: Making safe decisions with limited data while maintaining patient trust. Availability and Responsiveness Be fully present and available during your on-call hours, responding within 60 seconds of notification Maintain composure and prioritization when call volume surges Be camera-ready and professionally dressed for inbound calls from EMS. Provide timely administrative responses, including credentialing, licensing, and patient care documentation Working With the Care Team Act as a clinical resource to non-clinical Navigators; clarify triage questions and support safe call handling Partner with RightSite Nurses who buffer, triage, and prepare a clinical picture before you join the encounter Escalate to the EM physician with a concise, organized clinical summary when a case exceeds your scope, your comfort, or the uncertainty of the situation demands Liaise with our EMS, Fire, and Dispatch partners respectfully and effectively, including follow-up when appropriate Key skill: Collaborative communication without hierarchy or judgment. Medication and Pharmacy Prescribe within state scope and RightSite formulary guidelines Review medication lists for safety, interactions, and appropriateness Work through real pharmacy constraints: availability, alternatives, and cost Barriers to Care and Social Determinants of Health For many of our patients, the medical complaint is only part of why they called 911. Transportation barriers, medication affordability, food insecurity, housing instability, lack of primary care access, and insurance challenges often drive the call just as much as the clinical need Identify barriers that will prevent the care plan from actually happening Problem-solve with the patient and hand off to Navigators or nurses for resource connection Document barriers and interventions Key skill: Recognizing when a healthcare problem is also an access problem; the plan is only good if the patient can execute it. Documentation and Quality Document assessments, decision-making, and patient education clearly and contemporaneously Close loops on pending items, callbacks, and unresolved concerns; hand off cleanly at end of shift Serve as a subject matter expert in case reviews, process improvement, and development of the medical services department Key skill: Your documentation supports continuity of care, patient safety, and legal protection Requirements Required Nurse Practitioner (MSN/DNP, national certification as FNP, AGACNP, or ENP) or Physician Assistant (MPAS/equivalent, NCCPA certified) Minimum five years of post-training clinical practice; five to fifteen years is the ideal band Substantial practice in a busy, high-acuity emergency department Prior ED experience at facilities with annual volumes preferably above 45,000 visits Active, unencumbered license in at least one of Texas, Georgia, or Florida, with willingness to obtain additional state licensure (we support and fund this) Active DEA registration Demonstrated stability in prior roles; we look closely at repeated one-to two-year tenures Reliable access to internet bandwidth to handle video calls reliably, and a private, HIPAA-appropriate workspace Strongly Preferred Experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center, or Academic Medical Center Bilingual Spanish/English, which materially improves care for our Texas and Florida populations and reduces reliance on interpreters Experience with continuous quality improvement work Prior telehealth, nurse triage line, EMS, or prehospital experience COMPETENCIES At RightSite Health, we are big believers in competencies. Stewardship: Understands that patients, clinical colleagues, EMS partners, and the business all have legitimate needs, and balances them deliberately rather than defaulting to the most expensive or most defensive option.
