​​Looking for Filipino (Philippines-based) candidates Job Role: Senior Tax Accountant Salary Budget: 120,000-130,000 PHP / Month Contract Type: Independent Contractor Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9.00 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time. Who We Are: At Hunt St we help Australian companies directly hire top 5% remote talent in the Philippines. You will be hired directly by the client, typically as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you'll be able to work from home. Who The Client Is: Our client is an established Australian accounting firm based in Sydney, servicing clients across Australia and overseas. The firm works primarily with business owner franchisees, small and medium-sized businesses, and high-net-worth individuals and families. Role Overview: The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing Australian tax and accounting work across a portfolio of individuals, companies, trusts and other entities. This is not a bookkeeping or management accounting role. The client specifically requires someone with genuine Australian tax experience, particularly experience preparing personal, company and trust tax returns. The role is approximately: 80% hands-on Australian tax and accounting work 20% coaching junior accountants and beginning to build your own client portfolio Key Responsibilities: Prepare Australian individual, company and trust tax returns. Prepare annual financial statements, tax calculations, workpapers and supporting schedules. Prepare and review BAS and other Australian tax compliance work. Handle tax and accounting matters for SMEs, business owners, franchisees and high-net-worth individuals/families. Prepare SMSF financial statements and tax returns where required. Liaise with SMSF auditors and clients where applicable. Manage and progressively build your own portfolio of clients. Communicate directly with clients regarding tax, accounting and outstanding information. Manage deadlines, workflow and client follow-ups. Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide constructive feedback. Coach and mentor three junior accountants. Support the Manager with technical queries, workflow and quality control. Identify issues, delays and process improvement opportunities and raise them proactively. Maintain a high standard of accuracy, quality and client service. Requirements Required Skills & Qualifications CPA qualified in the Philippines. 3–5+ years of genuine Australian tax and/or business services experience. Strong hands-on experience preparing Australian individual, company and trust tax returns. Strong knowledge of Australian tax, accounting and compliance requirements. Experience working with Australian SMEs and/or business owners. Ability to independently prepare high-quality tax returns, financial statements and workpapers. Strong attention to detail and time management. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Comfortable communicating directly with Australian clients. Professional and clear communication with a neutral accent. Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment. Strong initiative, accountability and proactive work ethic. Willingness to coach and mentor junior accountants. Important: Candidates whose experience is primarily in bookkeeping or management accounting without substantial Australian tax return preparation experience will not be suitable. Preferred Experience SMSF experience is a bonus, not mandatory – training will be provided. Experience with Australian franchise businesses. Experience managing a portfolio of Australian clients. Previous experience reviewing or mentoring junior accountants. Experience with more complex individual or high-net-worth client matters. Software Experience with the following is highly desirable: Xero – used by approximately 90% of clients. XPM – tax/practice management. BGL – SMSF work; currently being implemented. Ignition – proposals and billing. Microsoft Excel and other standard accounting/tax tools.
