If you're enthusiastic about transforming negative emotions into something positive and want to  join the #2 Best Remote Workplace in America , we'd love to hear from you!   Title: US Tax Compliance Specialist (Remote - work from home)  Location: 100% Work from home in the Luzon island, Cebu City, Davao City or Iloilo City only Shift: Flexible late shift - Core working hours from 8:30 PM - 1:30 AM PHT (remaining hours can be completed before or after that)      About The Role The purpose of the US Tax Compliance Specialist is to serve as the principal contact for existing client accounts in the following areas: annual nexus reviews, monthly economic nexus reviews, offboarding, use tax, resale certificates and state nexus questionnaires. You will focus on conducting all nexus reviews, addressing nexus-related questions, and meeting and/or working directly with existing clients to explain nexus reviews and help address any nexus-related concerns that arise and ensure your clients are having a wonderful time working with you. You will work directly with other TaxValet employees, specifically the Client Tax Specialist Team, Onboarding Team and Filing Team, to ensure existing clients continue to be set-up and ready for the sales tax filing process. Internally known as our Client Nexus Specialist   Your Qualifications We’re looking for someone who is ready to learn and grow professionally and wants a career (not just a job). We can train you on a lot of things, but here are our non-negotiables: Professional 1-2 years of experience working with project management, tax advisory, research, audit, and/or accounting. Sales tax experience is a plus, but not required.  Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience.  You consider yourself a master at spreadsheets; you love using formulas, especially within Excel.    Interpersonal  This role will involve a LOT of client interaction and communication. Communication is your jam . You shine during in person (virtual) meetings with clients such that the client leaves inspired and resolved. You excel at putting together emails to clients. You are able to put someone at ease who is stressed out and anxious. You are energized by new challenges and problems to solve.You are great at researching (and understanding) complex information. You’ll need to plan in advance, and also be flexible when changes need to be made.  You’re always a team player at heart, and you never hesitate to share your learnings with your team or apply learnings gained from your collaboration with others.  It’s natural for you to bring order and clarity to complex and chaotic situations. Please note that the final step before being hired is for you to arrange reference calls with three of your former managers.  Your Primary Responsibilities Annual Sales Tax Nexus Reviews. The Client Nexus Specialist will analyze various economic and other presence factors to determine where existing clients have changes in their sales tax nexus obligations on an annual basis. Client Offboarding. The Client Nexus Specialist will be responsible for working with clients during their offboarding process. This includes negotiating with clients to explore opportunities for them to remain with TaxValet. If the client decides to proceed with offboarding, the CNS will ensure a smooth transition by managing permit closure information, computing final billings, completing necessary paperwork, and removing the client from TaxValet's systems, all while ensuring they have a positive experience at the conclusion of our service. Permit Opening, Closure, and Client Offboarding. The Client Nexus Specialist is responsible for initiating changes to existing client accounts resulting from a nexus review conducted, specifically in the areas of permit application, permit closure, and offboarding. This includes identifying the appropriate permit type for new permits, as well as completing the necessary Formstack preparation for both permit openings and closures before handing the project over to the assigned Client Tax Specialist. Support Existing Clients. You will support existing clients and their assigned hub to help with any issues that come up in regard to nexus, state nexus questionnaires, use tax, resale certificate and offboarding concerns of existing clients Project Audit. You will complete client project audits and peer reviews to ensure our clients' work is done correctly and all information is up-to-date. These processes are also used as a training opportunity for our team. Contributing to Client Success beyond Onboarding. You will actively work with the team to identify and implement improvements to project workflows.   Specific Measures of Success No surprises here! After a year on the job, you’ll be measured by these specific outcomes: The Client Nexus Specialist will ensure that tax exposure resulting from errors in nexus reviews completed within the trailing 12-month period remains below 3% of the maximum ideal exposure as % of net income in the Known Client Risk Pool The Client Nexus Specialist will ensure that less than 10% of nexus reviews completed in the trailing 12-month period have substantial errors as identified through peer review. Substantial errors are defined as inaccuracies that could lead to a possible exposure or non-compliant decision for the client. The Client Nexus Specialist will be responsible for supporting 66 existing clients for CNS-related concerns  per month. The Client Nexus Specialist will be responsible for completing 8 nexus reviews per month. The Client Nexus Specialist will be responsible for managing 20-25 Resale certificates, Use Tax, State Questionnaires and Offboarding projects per month. 100% of open tickets should be responded to by the Client Nexus Specialist within 48 hours Completion of online education and training. You will complete 3 hours per quarter of educational training.
