We are looking for a highly driven Senior Account Manager to join our Japan sales team — someone who is passionate about cutting-edge scientific solutions and capable of building lasting, trust-based relationships with our customers. As part of the sales team, you will be responsible for developing new software and services business across industries including advanced materials, electronics, and precision manufacturing — identifying, qualifying, and advancing opportunities from initial contact through close. You will engage with a broad range of stakeholders, from researchers and department managers to senior executives, while working closely with internal application scientists, product managers, leadership, and fellow account managers. Who will love this job:  An avid enthusiast of computational chemistry software, research informatics, and/or materials science/chemistry A science-fluent business professional who can hold their own in technical conversations with Ph.D.-level researchers and commercial discussions with procurement and executive stakeholders An experienced business strategist who enjoys identifying and communicating opportunities with colleagues and maintaining accurate sales forecasts An outstanding relationship manager who builds deep, long-term trust with customers A highly motivated self-starter who delivers results independently and as part of a team An excellent communicator and problem-solver who can translate complexity into clarity Someone who approaches customer-facing travel as an integral and enjoyable part of the role What you’ll do:  Develop comprehensive strategies for assigned customers to achieve quarterly and annual sales targets Build and manage a pipeline of materials science accounts across Japan's key industries — including chemicals, electronics, semiconductors, energy, automotive, and aerospace Plan and conduct regular customer meetings and seminars, including technical demonstrations in collaboration with application scientists, to build trust with both prospects and existing customers Negotiate and close licensing and service agreements, managing the full sales cycle from proposal through contract execution and implementation support Drive post-implementation customer satisfaction and retention initiatives Continuously monitor market dynamics — tracking which sectors are increasing investment in computational R&D, identifying capability gaps, and mapping where Schrödinger can deliver genuine value Produce accurate, timely revenue forecasts and provide regular performance reports and market feedback to headquarters in the US Travel domestically within Japan as needed  What you’ll need: Proven experience in account strategy development and sales forecasting 5+ years of experience in scientific or enterprise software sales A demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets The drive and initiative to build a market from the ground up A bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, biology, or a related scientific field Business-level English proficiency — sufficient for meetings, presentations, and written communication (preferred) Pay and Perks  Schrödinger understands that it’s people that make a company great.
