Position Summary:
The Credit Analyst supports company-wide credit risk management across the customer lifecycle, including onboarding, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, risk mitigation, claims exposure assessment, and downstream credit recovery support. This role serves as the primary Credit Risk resource for Mexico, Canada, International, and Celtic , with support across other portfolios to ensure continuity of Credit operations and consistent application of credit policy and risk controls.
Partners with Sales, Operations, Finance, Claims, Legal, and Collections to protect company assets, reduce bad debt, and enable sustainable revenue growth through disciplined credit risk management. The ideal candidate combines strong financial analysis skills and sound judgment with the ability to leverage data analytics and visualization tools. They will transform raw financial data into actionable insights, automate portfolio reporting, and proactively mitigate emerging credit risks and anomalies while balancing business growth and the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Underwriting & Customer Onboarding:
Perform credit risk assessments for new and existing customers using financial statements, credit bureau reports, trade references, and publicly available financial information
Recommend credit limits, payment terms, and risk mitigation strategies
Partner with Sales and Operations to enable customer onboarding with appropriate risk controls
Support execution of credit policies, approval frameworks, and onboarding standards
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management:
Manage credit monitoring for Canada, Celtic Intermodal, International, and Canada portfolios, while supporting broader portfolio coverage as needed.
Monitor credit exposure, utilization, aging, payment performance, and credit alerts
Conduct periodic credit reviews and reassess customer risk profiles to identify emerging credit risk
Identify high risk accounts and recommend mitigation actions, including limit adjustments, term modifications, credit holds, and suspensions
Manage over limit accounts, reactivation requests, and portfolio risk reporting
Credit Operations, Claims, & Risk Mitigation:
Partner with Claims to assess high risk cargo claims exposure and payment risk
Manage high risk accounts, bankruptcies, disputes, and distressed customers
Develop customer specific risk mitigation strategies in partnership with Commercial
Support company wide credit monitoring and risk initiatives
Prepare high risk account reviews and escalation recommendations
Strategic Collections & Recovery Support:
Support escalation of delinquent and high risk accounts
Partner with 3rd party collection agencies on recovery efforts
Track and reconcile bad debt recovery activity
Support OCA workflows and reporting
Provide risk based recommendations for complex recovery and settlement decisions
Data Analytics, Reporting & Controls:
Build and maintain dynamic credit risk dashboards to track portfolio health, utilization, and aging trends.
Leverage data analytics to strengthen risk controls, establishing automated alerts for early warning signs of customer distress.
Analyze exposure, delinquency, and bad debt data to identify root causes and predict future default risks.
Identify process and risk reduction opportunities
Qualifications:
Required
3+ years in credit, risk, financial analysis, AR, or Order to Cash experience
Proficiency with business intelligence tools (specifically Power BI or Tableau) with a proven ability to build, model, and maintain interactive dashboards.
Strong financial statement and credit analysis skills
Advanced excel proficiency, including XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, SQL, and data analysis
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to make sound, risk based decisions in a fast paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
Experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or freight brokerage
Experience with D&B, Moody’s, BillTrust, Salesforce, Oracle Fusion
Knowledge of credit policy, portfolio monitoring, AR, and bad debt recovery
Experience utilizing business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) and writing basic SQL queries to extract data, build models, and visualize credit risk portfolio metrics
