The team partners with colleagues across Technology, Product, Commercial, Finance, Operations, Customer and Executive Leadership, helping them understand performance, identify opportunities and solve complex business challenges. As Head of Data, you'll provide leadership across our data capabilities, ensuring we have the right strategy, governance, platforms and talent in place to support business growth. You'll play a key role in connecting technical expertise with commercial outcomes, helping stakeholders unlock the value of data in practical and meaningful ways. Data plays a vital role in how we understand our customers, improve experiences and make smarter decisions across Very. We're looking for a Head of Data to lead our Data function, bringing together people, platforms and insights to help the business realise the full value of its data. About the role You'll set the direction for the Data function, ensuring our approach aligns with wider business goals and supports the decisions that matter most. You'll balance long-term thinking with day-to-day delivery, helping the organisation build confidence in data while creating a clear roadmap for future growth. People are at the centre of everything we do. You'll lead and develop a talented team of data professionals, creating an environment where individuals can thrive, learn and do their best work. You'll foster a culture of collaboration, curiosity and accountability, helping the team continue to grow while delivering meaningful outcomes for the business. You'll champion the importance of high-quality, governed and accessible data. Working closely with Technology and business stakeholders, you'll ensure our data platforms, processes and standards enable teams to access trusted information when they need it and use it confidently. You'll help senior leaders make better decisions by ensuring insights are clear, relevant and commercially meaningful. By connecting data with business priorities, you'll help identify opportunities, improve performance and create better experiences for our customers. This is a highly collaborative role with visibility at senior leadership level. You'll build strong relationships across Very, acting as a trusted partner and advocate for data-led decision making while ensuring the Data function remains closely connected to business needs. About you We're looking for an experienced data leader who combines strong technical understanding with commercial awareness and exceptional people leadership. Significant experience leading Data, Analytics or Business Intelligence functions Proven ability to develop and deliver a data strategy that supports business objectives Experience building, leading and developing high-performing teams Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level Experience translating complex data concepts into clear business outcomes Strong understanding of data governance, quality, security and best practice Experience leading large-scale data platforms, reporting or analytics capabilities A collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem solving Experience within retail, ecommerce, digital or consumer-focused businesses Exposure to cloud-based data technologies and modern data platforms Experience supporting AI, machine learning or advanced analytics initiatives Familiarity with data product or self-service analytics approaches How to apply Please note that the talent acquisition team are managing this vacancy directly, and if successful in securing this role, you will be required to undertake a credit, CIFAS, Right to Work checks and if a specific requirement of your role a DBS (criminal records) check.
