By developing and supporting the implementation and operation of robotics platforms and robot solutions utilizing the world’s most advanced control and coordination technologies, we strive to realize this vision.  In this position, you will be working with our Embedded team to help drive innovation and optimization in the real-time software that runs on our autonomous mobile robots and ASRS platform. You will manage key parts of our embedded stack, including MCU drivers, control loops, and hardware abstraction layers, owning them end to end from design through implementation, testing, and field debugging alongside our Electronics, Embedded Systems, and Robotics Software engineers.  Key responsibilities:  Designing and implementing firmware modules: communication protocol handlers, sensor drivers, state machines, and diagnostic subsystems  Debugging hardware-software boundary issues using oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD, and bus analysis tools  Reading and interpreting electronic schematics independently  Choosing RTOS primitives deliberately – understanding ISR constraints, priority inversion, and concurrency failure modes  Contributing to embedded software architecture across the full stack: bare-metal firmware, RTOS configuration, hardware abstraction, host-side platform libraries, and real-time control loops.  Writing design documents that explain why decisions were made, not just what was implemented  Requirements Minimum Qualifications  5+ years of embedded systems product development with shipped hardware  Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems  Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M or equivalent)  RTOS experience in production: Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or equivalent – task scheduling, ISR constraints, concurrency primitives  Experience with communication protocols: I2C, SPI, CAN, UART  Schematic reading – can navigate a PCB schematic to trace a signal path without guidance  Debugging with oscilloscope, logic analyser, and JTAG/SWD  What We Value in This Role  Ownership – you hold a module end to end; you know what breaks if you aren’t there  First principles – you question inherited assumptions and verify constraints from the ground up  Systems thinking – you understand the full data path from sensor to actuator, not just your layer  Failure-first design – safe states and fault handling are designed in, not added after the first incident  Communication – your design documents help the next engineer understand the why, not just the what Benefits Competitive compensation package Globally diverse workplace Exposure to cutting-edge robotics technology Visa sponsorship Relocation support Commuting allowance Flexible working hours and dress code policy Japanese Social Security (Health Insurance, Pension, Employment Insurance)
